In this workshop, we will be experimenting with the Notebook software found on your laptop. We will use the tools to examine techniques you could use to organize lessons that interact with the internet, videos, and files stored on your laptop. You are invited to follow along and experiment using your own computer.
Online Resources you can use to help you with using Notebook:
- SmartEd TV - great site that contains many instructional videos about Smartboard Techniques.
- Smart on YouTube - How to Videos on YouTube abound…some designed by Smart itself, some by classroom teachers. Simply go to YouTube and do a search for a Smartboard Topic.
- Smart Tutorials - Smart has some tutorials that may be of help … these generally link to videos that are on YouTube.
- Naomi Harm’s SmartBoard Tutorial - An online SmartBoard Handbook
- Engaging Learners the SmartBoard Way – has ideas for how to use a whiteboard interactively….probably more geared to elementary to middle years but the ideas can often be reapplied to a high school classroom.
- PHET High School – Interactive Simulations - Any website that is interactive in nature works well with the Smartboard…Have a look at this site that contains many simulations that you can run in Physics, Math and Chemistry. The applets can be downloaded for free or can be embeded into a blog page.
- National Geographic Map Maker – Customizable map maker that you can use to create your own maps for the Smartboard.
- Jim Reed’s Interactive Resources – Jim Reed is a teacher in Alberta who has compiled a number of interactive apps mainly for Math also for a few other subject areas.
- Teachers Love Smartboards – High School Resources - This site contains a number of links to interactive apps for the Smartboard – explore and see what you can find!
