This morning, we had Mrs. Trost’s class come and join us for the first period.  We read a book called “What Am I? and then we worked with a partner and made our own “What am I?” riddles.  We will share our riddles on Friday.

In guided reading today, we did a shared writing activity.  Shared writing is when the teacher and students write a story together.

PostHeaderIcon Gym day!

The grade 1′s had gym today from 2:20 to 2:55.  Mr. Edgar is their Phys.ed teacher.  They were listening very carefully to learn the next drill.

I would like to thank everyone that came to the Reading Night. It was great to see the students so excited about it.

We have been practicing for our Reading Night! We are very excited about it. See you tomorrow at 7.

PostHeaderIcon Sidewalk Chalk!

It was gorgeous out today! We went outside and wrote sentences on the sidewalk using chalk. We enjoyed the sun!

At the end of the day we had an assembly. Mr. Beatty talked about bullying. We did not have time to write in our agendas. Just a reminder that the Reading Night is on Wednesday, April 25. Looking forward to seeing you!

PostHeaderIcon Fun with Ipads!!

We learned how to use an Ipad today!!  We learned how to take care of it, how to turn it on and off, and how to play a few educational games.  Tomorrow we will start using the Ipads during guided reading. Very exciting!

PostHeaderIcon Long O Vowel

Today, we learned the long “o” vowel. We read a poem, used the vests to make words and we played an activity on the Smartboard.

We had fun being Easter bunnies and giving our classmates treats! We also cleaned up our classroom. Have a great break! Happy Easter

About our Classroom
We are a Grade 1 classroom at Yorkdale Central School in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada. There is approximatley 450 students in our Kindergarten to Grade 8 school. There are three Grade 1 classrooms in our school this year. We are Class 1.3 and we have 15 students in our class.
