    Kudos to GSSD for allowing adminstrators to attend the PLC session in Regina. Depending what stage the school is at, something shoudl be taken away. Yorkdale was able to take six staff members plus our principals. When we add this to three staff taken to an earlier session, we have several staff members who have received info first hand. We are conforted by the fact that staff members are reporting that they walk away from these sessions with a positive vibe. They feel very at peace where our school is at, and they do not walk away feeling bewildered, frustrated, or overwhlemed. Those coming back are added to the direction by principals.

    Thank you again to GSSD. The session I had with my staff members on the Tuesday afternoon about PLC direction at Yorkdale was among the more productive sessions I have had in three years. Pleased to hear the positive comments and openness of staff members.

    Is it possible to have RTI WITHOUT well-established processes of PLC?

    @Zian Nowosad
    Zian,

    I too don’t have staff members asking for articles so I started something new at my December 10th meeting. I copied a short article and had teachers read at the staff meeting. I had them highlight 3 points of interest, they then discussed their points with a couple of partners. We then discussed it as a staff.

    @wjaigobin
    Withman,

    Careful consideration when creating the groups helped to create a sense of trust with some of my groups. With other groups it just took time. I think people who don’t believe in the process need to see the results happening in other groups. As an administrator I try to reinforce with the groups the notion that time to collaborate is something we have always asked for. The PLC format just creates a struture for us to do that. The second thing I have tried to do is return the forms teams submit to me quickly. I look for positive things to build upon and reinforce that with positive comments so people can see that they are making progress.
